Jolly moves on in Teacher of the Year process

Tennessee Department of Education has announced the 27 regional semi-finalists for Teacher of the Year. White County High School and White County schools proudly announce Heather Jolly has been selected as one of the three finalists for the Upper Cumberland Region.

The committee scored over 200 applications from across the state. Jolly, currently a Math III teacher at White County High School, will now progress in the selection process. In June, the state scoring committee will choose nine regional finalists from the pool of educators. Assistant principal of curriculum, Amy Hawkins, in her description of Jolly, highlighted her diligence, meticulousness, and passion. Her colleagues also commended her for setting high expectations, demonstrating an exceptional work ethic, always being prepared and organized, and for going above and beyond for her students and WCHS.

Jolly’s journey from a student at BonDeCroft Elementary and White County Middle School to a graduate of White County High School, in 2010, and finally to a finalist for the Upper Cumberland Region Teacher of the Year, is a testament to her dedication and commitment to education. She majored in secondary education at Tennessee Tech University.

Principal Greg Wilson proudly stated, “Our school and community are so proud of Mrs. Jolly. She strives daily to get the best out of her students and help them prepare for their futures. Heather is a great example of the wonderful students and educators who are products of our great White County Schools.”
